The Creston Valley (population 10,000) experiences spring in mid-April, with green leaves, scented blossoms and green grass seeming to appear overnight, prompting residents of all ages to get back outdoors and enjoy everything the valley has to offer. It can often feel very much like summer by the middle of May, when the cherry and apple trees are in blossom. Creston is known for its fruit and vegetable production, which includes strawberries, cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines, pears, plums and apples as well as in-season vegetables are abundant at the many fruit and vegetable markets located along highway 3. Stop in at the Sutcliffe's Asparagus Farm in May to enjoy the freshest and tastiest first vegetable of the season. So much for the 100-mile diet, the Creston Valley has everything one can imagine grown within 10 miles.
